Bodegas Barahonda, who are an up and coming modern winery based in the deep south east of Spain, make excellent wines that focus on indigenous Spanish and local grape varieties. In this region the great key for red wines is the Monastrell grape variety, which is the same as Mourvedre in France and Mataroin Australia. This Crianza is rich and smooth and shows what quality can be achieved from the variety, region and moderate use of new Oak Barrels.
