Joseph Drouhin
Drouhin's estate-holding is immensely wide-ranging and covers almost every one of the important Burgundy appellations. Though this region is more accurately in the Rhone valley, Beaujolais has always been linked to Burgundy on account of the lightness of Gamay (its principal grape) and the similarity that this represents to some lighter Burgundian reds, some of which are themselves a blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay. This is a benchmark version of what good Beaujolais can be like. Coming only from the best of the Cru Villages in Beaujolais, this is more intense and has more structure than most Beaujolais Villages and is a good match for many of the foods that one associates with the South of France.
