Description
Casa Emma produce wine in the central Tuscan hills, not far from Castellina in Chianti and at an altitude of 420 metres above sea level. Their philosophy regarding viticulture and viniculture is truly refreshing and the science in the vines is revelatory. These Sangiovese grapes are selected to be grown in the best parcels of land within Casa Emma's 21 hectares and thismeans that they can choose the right clones to suit their needs. In this case, the clones used happen not just to make fantastic wine, but also generate higher levels of Resviratrol, the natural hormone that is said to prevent the symptoms of dementia. The flavours though are magnificent: from dark mocha and cocoa to bursting black cherries and subtle spice; this is a wine that deserves time and consideration for food and company. Matured in 500 litre new oak barrels, there really are very few other wines like this in the world.
