Champagne Mumm
This cuvée has been in existence since the late 19th century when the house wanted to thank favourite clients and released special bottles that were wrapped with a red silk ribbon, echoing the Legion d'Honneur and the order of Saint Louis. This red Cordon became so popular that the family decided to give it to their most prominent cuvée. This house itself was established in 1827 though the family had been making wine long before, based in Germany as a winemaker and grower. They realised the potential of the newly sparkling wine from Champagne and two Mumm sons set up a Reims office in 1827. They now own 218 hectares of vines in Champagne, which is a vast amount of potential wine. Today they are one of the most recognisable wine brands in the world, largely due to the pioneering sales trips made by Mumm at the turn of the 20th century.
