Chateau les Chaumes
Chateau les Chaumes is a relatively small property in the Lalande de Pomerol appellation that is one of the satellites of St Emilion. Their wines are terroir-driven and can live for many years on account of their acid backbone and the particular blending of Cabernet Franc, with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. With many of the characteristics of the wines of the more famous Pomerol next door, this wine is smooth, lush and very fine. Though it is a restaurant-quality wine that would be able to grace the tables of the best in town, it is very affordable for the quality and delivers far more than you'd expect.
