Herdade do Rocim
Herdade do Rocim is the winery built by one of Portugal's most successful businessmen and his family. Now run by Pedro Ribero, who is married to the founder's daughter, the winery is one of the most beautiful modern constructions in the Alentejo. Temperature controls for winemaking are nothing new, but this winery also has controls for air conditioning around the tanks and barrels, as well as naturally ventilated rooms for storage of grapes and maturing bottles. The wines that Pedro makes are fantastic and full of character. Based in the town of Cuba, they are at a slightly higher altitude than other wineries in the region and this allows for cooler air temperatures at night which creates fresher grapes in the winery. This of course is perfect for the production of rosé and here it is light, elegant and refreshing. Perfect for warmer months but with enough flavour for rosé fans to drink all year round.
