Joseph Drouhin
Joseph Drouhin, who farm entirely organically and bio-dynamically, have given us another beautiful white Burgundy. This wine is a treat for those discerning wine-lovers who want to explore other Burgundian regions. This walled, single vineyard gives real reward and is both layered and balanced with ripe fruit and freshness, oak and apple, pear and melon. A very fine food wine that would never be wrong as company in its own right. The Macon country is warmer than the other regions of Burgundy, but still has the ability to produce wines of rare balance, poise and precision, even when they carry a little more fruit-weight. This is the case here, where the excellent old-vines Chardonnay retains fresh levels of acidity that provides the backbone for the ripeness and spice flavours encountered on the palate.
