Latium Morini, Valpolicella

Italy · Veneto · Valpolicella
A delicious, cherry-ripe, fresh and rewarding wine that is never too heavy nor too light. A juicy Valpolicella that is excellently made and a very smart reminder of the region.

Latium Morini is a winery co-run and owned by five cousins. Based outside Verona by the shores of Lake Garda, they have been growing grapes for generations - but only recently have they been making them into their won wines. This is often the case for grape-growers - they are unable to or unwilling to make their own wines and see their grapes as another form of agricultural crop that is made to be sold. It's a bit like dairy farmer who don't bottle their own milk or churn their own butter. Today, I Latium Morini are a winery that is on the up and this is because of their dedication to quality (of course) but also because of the path that they trad between traditionalism in their growing and modernism of stylistic execution: these wines are round and soft and easy to drink, but have a balancing high acidity that comes from the superb management of their vineyards.
