D'Arenberg The Dead Arm Shiraz is an outstanding wine produced in the McLaren Vale region of South Australia. It is made from 100% Shiraz grapes, sourced from old vines that are over 100 years old. The wine has a deep, dark color and a concentrated aroma of blackberry, dark chocolate, vanilla, and a subtle hint of pepper. On the palate, it is full-bodied and powerful, with a rich flavour profile of ripe black fruit, spicy oak, and velvety tannins that provide the wine with a full-bodied texture and a long, persistent finish.
This wine is named after a vine disease called "dead arm," which causes one side of the vine to lose productivity while the other side thrives. The grapes used to make this wine are carefully selected to ensure that only the best fruit is used in production. The wine is aged for 22 months in French oak barrels, which imparts a subtle oak flavour and aroma.
D'Arenberg Shiraz is an ideal wine to pair with rich meat dishes, such as grilled lamb or beef, due to its full-bodied texture and robust flavour profile. It is best served at room temperature and is highly regarded for showcasing the power and complexity of premium Shiraz from the McLaren Vale region of South Australia.
