Description
This wine proves that Terras Gauda should be considered as legendary Rias Baixas producers, which in turn means that they are legendary producers, full-stop. Their wines are profound, intense and often cited as benchmarks of their region. They are unusual in Rias Baixas, owning substantial amounts of their own land, enough to fulfil most of their wine producing needs without the recourse to contracted growers. Though they are a great reference for delicious and bright, juicy Albarino wines, this wine is a different beast altogether. It is mostly made from Albarino, but has two other native varieties blended in as well: Loureiro (famous from Vinho Verde) and Caino Blanco. These varieties, along with the attention to fermenting details afforded by Terras Gauda, create a wine that is immensely powerful, with a full, creamy texture that is complex with nuanced flavours of roasted nuts, fruit skins, white fruits, citrus and dried herbs. It's quite a phenomenon in the region that is still available at less than the price of an average Chablis 1er Cru.
