Thistledown's focus on European elegance is, for this wine at least, ever so slightly put to one side. Perhaps just less influential then, the approach to this wine is much more direct: focussed fruit and a ripe, full structure, there is something much more traditionally Australian here than in their other wines. And though this is not Thistledown's normal territory, they manage it superbly well: indeed, it's as though they were trying to trick us as the European influence makes the wine balanced and finish with a mouth-watering acidic lift, freshness and fruit.
