Yves Boyer-Martenot
The small village of Meaursault has a surprising and influential geologic difference from its neighbouring villages, that impacts hugely on the style of its wines: it has subsoils made of chalk and stone that are twice as deep. This means that for centuries, wineries with cellars in Meursault have been able to store twice the amount of wine in their cellars - or, more accurately - they have stored their wines for twice the amount of time as their neighbours. This has given rise to the outstanding quality, richness and colour that we associate with them today. Boyer-Martenot are no exception, but perhaps are even more special as they own their complete supply of vines, putting them at the very pinnacle of productino in theis much-loved and respected village.
