Catena Malbec is a red wine produced by the Catena Zapata winery, located in the Mendoza region of Argentina. The winery was founded in 1902 by Italian immigrant Nicola Catena and is now run by his descendants, who are known for their innovative winemaking techniques and focus on producing high-quality wines.
This Malbec is made from 100% Malbec grapes grown in the high-altitude vineyards of Mendoza. The grapes are carefully selected and hand-harvested before undergoing fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for a minimum of 12 months in oak barrels before being bottled.
Catena Malbec has a deep ruby color and a complex aroma of blackberry, black cherry, and cassis, with hints of vanilla, tobacco, and spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied and well-structured, with firm tannins and a long, persistent finish. The wine has a balanced acidity that gives it a refreshing and lively character.
This Malbec is an excellent representation of the Mendoza region and is a versatile wine that pairs well with a variety of dishes, including grilled meats, pasta with meat sauce, and hard cheeses.
