Château Musar is a red wine produced in the Bekaa Valley of Lebanon. The estate was founded in 1930 by Gaston Hochar and is now run by his sons Serge and Ronald Hochar.
The wine is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault, and Carignan grapes, which are fermented and aged separately for up to three years before being blended together and aged for an additional year in oak barrels. Château Musar is known for its unique flavour profile, which often includes notes of leather, earth, and spice, as well as fruit flavours like black cherry and plum.
Château Musar has gained a reputation as one of the most iconic and respected wine producers in the Middle East. Despite the challenging political and social conditions in Lebanon, the Hochar family has maintained a commitment to producing high-quality wine using traditional winemaking techniques. The estate has also been instrumental in promoting Lebanese wine and culture to a global audience.
Overall, Château Musar is considered to be a truly unique wine that represents a blend of Old World winemaking techniques and Middle Eastern terroir. It is often cited as one of the best wines to come out of the Middle East and has a loyal following among wine enthusiasts.
